Decking Spindles

Decking Spindles are the essential finishing touch to your decking. Whether square, angled or colonial, they are the perfect way to provide structure to decking fences and staircases.

At Stewart Timber all of our wood is pressure treated for longevity. Pressure treating is the best way to extend the timber’s life, whilst protecting it from harsh weather conditions, rot and pests. Plus, all of our decking spindles are sourced from FSG registered suppliers.

Even though they are designed to withstand the test of time, we recommend purchasing decking oil to really nourish your wood and add an extra layer of protection.

The guys who delivered it were super helpful and the shed is great. I was so pleased I ordered a wood store, and that experience was the same. I'll be ordering a bike shed in the next few weeks too. Really, really great company.

Used this frim three times now. Every experience has been excellent. Used both collection and their delivery service. Quality of timber is superb. I did railing and decking job and purchased one of their sheds which they erected (in the price!). Very pleased.

Recently purchased a quantity of deck boards for a decking project. Given the current climate with sourcing materials and sly high prices, I was expecting this company to be no different to the rest I'd received quotes from. I was pleasantly surprised by the price for the deck boards I required. Very reasonable. Also, delivered super quick. Excellent service.

I can’t speak highly enough of this company. Helpful, super quick delivery, no request a hassle.

Used them for a decking project this spring and also more recently for a log store build. Provided them with my cut list (straightforward, but above just sending lengths as purchased) and they did it without question.

Big thanks to the team, won’t use anyone else for timber purchases.

Decking - FAQs

How many years will decking last?

Depending on how well you care for your wooden deck, it can last 10-25 years. Cleaning, oiling, and refinishing it will help it last longer. Our composite decking has a 15 year warranty and doesn’t need as much maintenance to keep it sturdy for years to come.

Do you need planning permission for decking in Scotland?

You usually don’t need planning permission for constructing a deck in your garden in Scotland. If your deck is no more than 50cm from the ground, it’s wholly behind the principal elevation or side elevation if road facing, if it’s not in a conservation area (unless the deck is under 4 metres squared), and your home is not a listed building, then you don’t need planning permission.

What is the cheapest decking option?

The cheapest material for decking is wood. Composite decking is slightly more expensive, though you don’t need to spend as much money maintaining it over its lifetime.

How much does decking cost?

The cost of decking depends on the type of decking material, your design, its size, and the extra products you need to bring it all together. Our basic decking kits begin at £380. Larger projects with stairs, spindles/panels and handrails can cost into the £1000s.
